Plastek polyurethane glue

Description

Two-component adhesive, available in 400 g, 900 g or 4.5 kg cans.

Color: opalescent.

It is suitable for bonding of:

  • watertight zippers with polyurethane (TiZip) or neoprene (BDM / Dynat / Otto) tape
  • of latex terminals
  • of valve seats
  • of reinforcement pockets / patches

It can be used with the activator in the measure from 5% to 10%. For watertight applications, it is recommended to apply two coats of glue. Ventilate the room during and after use.

How to use:

Apply evenly and in sufficient quantity.
The use of 5% activator is recommended.
Gluing can only be performed hot after at least 15 minutes from application and within 30-40 minutes.
Adhesion is excellent after 8 hours and complete after 48 hours.

POSSIBLE PROBLEM: During the winter you may find that the Plastek, once spread, dries due to the evaporation of the solvent as always, but then it is cold to the touch on the surface and wet as of condensation and then no longer sticks.

SOLUTION: The behavior of the Plastek 82 glue described above is normal with the atmospheric conditions of the winter period. With low ambient temperatures, the solvent contained in the glue struggles to evaporate and attracts the moisture contained in the air to its surface. So to the touch we feel the surface cold and dry, but the adhesive layer is not completely dry because the film of surface condensation prevents the complete evaporation of the solvent. The result is that the adhesive appears dry but is not completely dry and therefore the adhesive capabilities are lower than standard. To obviate this drawback it is sufficient to operate in an environment heated to at least 15 ° C and to pass the pieces coated with adhesive in an oven at about 50 ° for a few minutes before reactivation by infrared rays. This is the system universally adopted to overcome the drawbacks of the winter period.

HOW TO REMOVE THE GLUE: The polyurethane glue is difficult to remove, especially if it has been mixed with the activator. In any case, there is a special solvent (TRIMASTEK) that facilitates the operation by softening the glue. It is then necessary to mechanically sand or rub with rubber to remove residues.
